Floyd County Schools Launch New Initiatives

{Kentucky}...Floyd County's graduation rate was 78.95% for the 2009-2010 school year. In an effort to get more students to graduate from high school, Floyd County school officials have launched new initiatives this year. Students at the Renaissance Learning Center in Martin are taught lessons a little differently with a one to one basis. Ted George, Floyd County Schools Director of Instruction, says knowing the kids, knowing what they need, what the school needs to provide them to be successful and barriers that need to be removed for the kids is proving successful. Floyd County elementary and high schools are also implementing intervention programs.
