Prestonsburg Woman Enters Guilty Plea

{Kentucky}...The body of 20 year old  Brian "Jake" Gayheart was found in the Big Sandy River just south of Catlettsburg on May 12th, after his mother reported him missing on May 1st. Benjamin Meek, 21, and his wife Kaitlyn Crum Meek, 20, both of Prestonsburg, were arrested in late May and charged with the murder. Police say Benjamin Meek beat and killed Gayheart during a drug deal and then sent his body 75 miles down river. As part of her plea deal, Kaitlyn Crum Meek entered a guilty plea to the lesser charges of robbery, assault and evidence tampering during a hearing in Floyd County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon and agreed to testify against her husband. Benjamin Meek still faces charges of murder, robbery, assault, tampering with evidence and theft. Both are being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
