Knott County Approves Occupational Tax

  • {Kentucky}...The Knott County Fiscal Court met Monday afternoon and voted to pass the occupational tax. Knott County Judge Executive Randy Thompson says the tax was the only solution to save the county's budget. With $1.5 million in lost revenue, if they did not find new sources of revenue, the county was facing a shut down on November 1, 2011. Thompson said, if the county shut down, only offices mandated by the state would remain open.
