Floyd County Man Pleads Not Guilty

  • {Kentucky}...James Slone, 33, of Melvin, was arrested earlier this month after being indicted by a Floyd County Grand Jury on  two counts of murder. During a hearing Tuesday in Floyd County Circuit Court, Slone entered a not guilty plea, and the judge set a January 12th per-trial date. Slone's bond remained at $1 million. Investigators say, in June, Slone was driving east on Ky. 122 when he crossed the center line, colliding with a truck driven by Jeffrey Hamilton, 36, of McDowell. Hamilton and 43 year old Karen Mitchell of Hi Hat, a passenger in Slone's vehicle, both died at the scene. Besides the two counts of murder, Slone is charged with four counts of assault and one count of DUI. Slone is being held in the Floyd County Detention Center.
