Knott County Fiscal Court Corrected Problems

{Kentucky}...Ezalee Pigman filed a complaint with Attorney General Jack Conway's office after a special called fiscal court meeting in Knott County on September 21st. Pigman says written notice of the meeting was not sent to the members of the fiscal court, and the court continued to discuss public business after the meeting adjourned. Pigman claimed the meetings were improper, and Conway agreed, saying it was an "inadvertent" violation of the Open Meetings Act, and it "violated the public good." Knott County Judge Executive Randy Thompson said, "We try every was possible to comply with every rule, law and regulation. On occasions, we are small staffed and we screw up, and this time we did." Thompson says they have corrected the problems. Everything from the illegal meeting was voided and another meeting was held with the proper notification.
