Magoffin County Post Office Closed

  • {Royalton, Kentucky}...The Royalton Post Office in Magoffin County is closed. U.S. Post Office officials issued an emergency suspension on the building, ordering it closed immediately after mold was found inside it, making it unsafe for the workers or people in the community. All of its operations are now being handled in Salyersville. U. S. Postal officials say a flood a few years ago caused mold to start growing inside the building. U.S. Postal officials say people can buy stamps or handle other business through their mail carriers instead of driving to Salyersville, and anyone who had a P.O. box in Royalton can get one in Salyersville. The postmaster retired and other workers were moved to the Salyersville Post Office.
