Floyd County Man Sentenced

  • {Prestonsburg, Kentucky}...Twenty year old Benjamin Meek of Prestonsburg, in Floyd County, has been sentenced to 23 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to murder, robbery, and several other charges in the death of 20 year old Brian Jacob Gayheart. Police say, in May, Meek and his wife Kaitlyn Crum Meek went to the Goble-Roberts area to rob Gayheart of pills. Gayheart's body was found weeks later in the Big Sandy River in Boyd County. Police say he was beaten before his body was put in the water in Floyd County. In August, Kaitlyn Crum Meek took a plea deal for lesser charges and agreed to testify against her husband. She agreed to a 15 year sentence and was sentenced in September.
