Attempted Robbery In Letcher County

{Hazard, Kentucky}... About 8:00 A.M. Wednesday, Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call of from a person advising them that someone was attempting to rob his grandfather at gunpoint outside his residence at Happy Hollow Road in the Jenkins community of Letcher County. Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was going to work and had a computer in a bag as he left his residence. The perpetrator attempted to take the bag, and the victims struggled with him. The perpetrator was disarmed in the altercation and then threatened the victims with a knife and fled the scene before police arrived. The perpetrator was a white male approximately 5'7" tall weighing about 140 lbs. wearing a camouflage jacket and pants with a black mask. He fled the scene in a small tan passenger car believed to be a Toyota Corolla with a "Friends of Coal" registration plate.
