Accidents Cause Traffic Problems In Pike County

  • {Pikeville, Kentucky}...Separate accidents involving two overturned tanker trucks and a coal truck caused traffic problems for some drivers in Pike County Monday. A semi carrying 8,500 gallons of diesel and gasoline overturned about 2:30 P.M. along Ky. Route 195 at Dead Man’s Curve, about one-half mile from US 460, just before you get to Wolfpit. Another tanker was brought in to offload the fuel, before the semi could be up-righted and towed from the scene. There was no spill in the crash. Kentucky Route 194 at mile marker 46, on top of Big Creek Mountain, was also closed to all traffic after two 18-wheeler trucks overturned, in separate accidents, within yards of each other about 3:00 P.M. Highway officials say one was a coal truck, and one was a tanker truck.
