Former Rest Home Administrator Sentenced

  • {Whitesburg, Kentucky}...Thursday, Special Letcher County Circuit Judge Ron Johnson sentenced 70 year old James F. "Chum" Tackett of Jenkins to 10 years in prison and ordered him to pay $340,000 in restitution to various victims. Tackett reports to federal prison in April. Tackett, the former administrator of Golden Years Rest Home, pleaded guilty last fall to theft, exploitation of a vulnerable adult and income tax fraud, admitting he used some of the money, which was intended for Golden Years Rest Home residents' care, to buy personal vehicles. Tackett was sentenced on February 16th to two years in federal prison on charges of theft of Social Security funds in connection with the operation of the home. Under a plea agreement, Tackett will be on probation for 10 years after his release from federal prison.
