Pike County Courthouse Workers Facing The Heat

  • {Pikeville, Kentucky}...This week's unusually high temperatures are causing people working in the Pike County Courthouse, where the air conditioning is not working, to face the heat. One quote they got to fix the unit is around $52,000, but officials say, when they created this year's budget two years ago, they did not have enough money to put into an emergency fund. Sometimes in the afternoon the temperature in the building gets up to 100 degrees, so they have started turning off some of the lights and using fans to make it as bearable as possible. Officials say they will probably have to call an emergency fiscal court meeting in an effort to find a way to cool things off.
