Memorial Day Holiday Fatalities Up

Kentucky State Police reported an increase in fatal accidents over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. A motorcycle accident Friday night in Breathitt County claimed the life of 28 year old Timothy Roberts of Jackson. Roberts was  pronounced dead at Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson after he lost control of his motorcycle and  hit a utility pole and guide wire while traveling on Quicksand Road. Forty-nine year old Diana Sexton was pronounced dead at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital Saturday after David Jones of Hazard lost control of his vehicle on North Main Street in Hazard and crossed into Sexton's lane, hitting her vehicle head-on. Whitley County Sheriff's Deputies say, Sunday afternoon, 63 year old Wanda Sue Lambtin left her home, fell into a pond on her own property, got stuck and drowned. Her son found her dead about 30 minutes later. Twenty-three year old Matthew J. Pierce, and his passenger, 23 year old Jordan B. Crouch, both of Monticello, died in a motorcycle crash early Sunday when their 2007 Suzuki left the roadway and struck a house. A three-vehicle crash in Russell County Sunday morning resulted in the death of 12 year old Kinley Browning of Glasgow.
