Knott County Honors Fallen Deputy Sheriff

A highway in Knott County has been renamed in honor of 29 year old Bristol Taylor, a chief deputy sheriff who died in the line of duty. Taylor died nearly 40 years ago after being shot four times. A portion of Highway 1393 was renamed the Deputy Bristol Taylor Memorial Highway. The highway name change was initiated by State Representative John Short and was then approved by the Kentucky General Assembly.
