Groundbreaking For New Horse Trail

{Pikeville, Kentucky}...Monday, Pike County officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at Bob Amos Park in Pikeville for a new horse trail they hope will draw more people seeking adventure tourism. City Manager and Tourism Chairman Donovan Blackburn said the nearly 2.5 mile trail is being funded with federal grant money that the city matched. The trail, which has been in the works for three years, is expected to open by spring of next year and will be free to use. Pikeville City Commissioner Barry Chaney says the city is looking into the possibility of having a vendor provide horse rides at the park for a fee.
