AT&T Contributes To Floyd County Schools

{Prestonsburg, Kentucky}...At South Floyd High School Monday morning, AT&T officials announced a $100,000 contribution to Floyd County Schools, as part of their “It’s all about Success” initiative, for new programs targeted at improving graduation rates. The programs will provide summer remediation opportunities for incoming high school freshman and expand the advisor/advisee program in high schools across the district. The program will also expand the districts “WhyTry” curriculum, increasing opportunities for students to engage in credit recovery and remediation during evening hours. House Speaker Greg Stumbo told students that this program was about creating winners, both academically, and later in life. “Winners never quit, and quitters never win. Be winners.” The “Its all about Success” initiative was named as one of 47 recipients nationwide that will share in nearly $10 million from AT&T during this phase of the AT&T Aspire program. Since the program began in 2008, AT&T has impacted more than 1 million students with its Aspire program. Floyd County becomes the most recent, and the first in Appalachia to benefit.
