MSHA Issues Citations

The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday its regulators issued 255 citations, 13 orders and two safeguards during inspections at 11 coal mines and four other mines in August. MSHA said it issued 10 citations and six orders following an impact inspection at D & C Mining Corp. in Harlan County, Kentucky. Among the violations, inspectors cited an accumulation of combustible materials, a failure to comply with the roof control plan and failure to perform a daily calibration test of multi-gas detectors.
