Chop Shop Case...Jury Reaches Verdict

{Paintsville, Kentucky}...Around 3:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, a jury in Johnson County began deliberating the case of a family charged with running a "chop shop" out of a wrecker service at their home in Hager Hill between June 2008 and January 2012. Marty Welch, 46, his wife, 43 year old Madaline Welch, and their son, 21 year old Ian Welch, were indicted in March on dozens of charges that included receiving stolen property, trafficking in stolen vehicles or stolen vehicle parts and forgery. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department and the Kentucky State Police Auto Theft Division searched the property on January 5th and seized two alleged stolen cars, several computers and documents. Marty Welch previously said he bought car parts on the internet and didn't know they might be stolen. Wednesday night, Marty, Madaline and Ian Welch were convicted on most of the charges.
