Shopping Center Contracts Finalized

{Pikeville, Kentucky}...Pikeville officials say contracts have been finalized for Pikeville Commons, a new shopping center that will include 24 new stores, many of which have already been signed to major national retailers. Pikeville City Manager Donovan Blackburn says the businesses include a 55,000 square foot craft store, a 24,000 square foot retailer, a 20,000 square foot apparel store and a 10,000 square foot shoe store. The developer has drawn up plans to put at least 58 apartments above the stores. Pikeville City Commissioner Barry Chaney says the project will mean 600 new jobs. Officials expect to break ground on the project by April and hope to have it completed by next year's holiday shopping season.
