A Hero Laid To Rest

BARDSTOWN, Ky. -
It was a farewell fit for a fallen hero and a funeral filled with tearful tributes.

A community came together Thursday for an emotional farewell to a murdered police officer. Hundreds took part in a final tribute to Officer Jason Ellis.

To honor to Officer Jason Ellis' service and sacrifice, thousands of American flags and hundreds of citizens lined the city’s streets for miles.

Hundreds of fellow law enforcement officials led the funeral procession and with each passing car it became clear how many lives Ellis' death impacted.

As the funeral procession passed by the bystanders, there was only silence. A quiet reverence to honor a man who served his community with dignity and respect until the day he died.

Thursday would have marked Officer Jason Ellis' seventh anniversary at the Bardstown Police Department.
