Volunteers with the Adopt-a-Highway program to be scrubbing roadsides week of June 2

Volunteers will be out in force across Kentucky cleaning up roadsides.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet set the Adopt-a-Highway Summer Scrub Week for June 2 through June 8.

Nearly 750 groups participate in Kentucky's Adopt-a-Highway program, which was established in 1988. Volunteers clean approximately 5,100 miles of roadside annually.

The Adopt-a-Highway program promotes public environmental awareness and supports tourism. State officials say the program also creates a partnership between citizens, community and government; and establishes a sense of pride in the Bluegrass State.
