fiscal court meeting without
Judge Executive Tim Conley present was held Thursday morning. Morgan County
Just two days ago, Conley pleaded not guilty to four counts of mail fraud, one count of theft from a program receiving federal funds and one count of conspiring to launder money.
He was released on home incarceration. As a part of his release, Conley is not allowed to have any contact with county employees or attend fiscal court meetings.
At the fiscal court meeting Thursday morning, it was business as usual despite Conley's absence. County officials say although the situation makes daily functions slightly more difficult, Conley is allowed to keep his judge-executive position.
"Until he is found guilty or convicted or resigns from his seat, basically we run this the way it is and he is still the judge," says Frankie Spencer, District 4 Magistrate.
Someone from the county attorney's office will be appointed to act as a liaison between Conley and other county officials.
