Lawmakers will return to the Capitol on Monday to consider several parts of the state budget that were vetoed by Governor Steve Beshear.
On Friday, Governor Beshear vetoed 12 items in the $20.3 billion two-year state budget, which takes effect in July. Lawmakers can consider overriding those vetoes during a two-day wrap up session that begins Monday.
Also on the agenda is a $40-million budget request by Lexington Mayor Jim Gray for renovations to Rupp Arena. This isn’t the first time that Gray has asked for the state’s help with the project, which is estimated to cost $310-million.
Lawmakers denied Gray’s $65 million budget request earlier this year. The state budget must be finalized by April 15th.
