(Frankfort, KY) - Preliminary statistics indicate that seven people died on Kentucky roadways from Monday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014. During the same reporting period, KSP accounted for 320 seat belt citations, 58 aggressive driving citations, 15 distracted driving citations and 97 DUI arrests.
In an effort to reduce highway fatalities, KSP is asking Kentuckians to 'Finish Strong' in 2014 by adhering to safe driving procedures including wearing seat belts, reducing speed, refraining from distractions and never driving impaired. Kentucky is currently at its lowest highway fatality rate in nearly 50 years.
The #FinishStrongKY project began November 1, 2014 with a data driven strategy that places enforcement details in high crash zones where fatalities have occurred. The effort will remain in effect through the holidays.
