Gibson Bottom Bridge

The Pike County Fiscal Court held a Special Called Meeting on Wednesday morning.

The Pike County Fiscal Court met on Wednesday to discuss the on-going construction situation regarding the Gibson Bottom Bridge on Elkhorn Creek just off route 197 in Kettle Camp.

Allegedly, construction began before the proper bid was awarded which left the residents of Gibson Bottom without access to their property.

Gibson Bottom resident, Allen Gibson, stated that the residents now have to drive through a neighbor’s yard in order to get home.

The Fiscal Court rejected the bids for the bridge and declared the situation an emergency; meaning, construction can begin immediately without the court having to award a bid.

According to Pike County Judge Executive Bill Deskins, the bridge should be completed in less than a month.
