State police resolve to decrease fatalities in 2015

Kentucky State Police have their own New Year's resolution. They want to protect more drivers in 2015.

Law enforcement throughout the Commonwealth dealt with close to a dozen fatalities in the ten-day period between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

Out of all crashes reported in 2014, state police say half included some sort of driver distraction. Distractions range from cell phone use to general inattention behind the wheel.

State police say, historically, drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts are four to five times more likely to be killed in a crash.
