A Perry County man is dead after a Sunday night confrontation with Kentucky State Police Troopers. Troopers had responded to a camper at Chavies in response to a report of gunshots. While there, Troopers attempted to make contact with 53-year-old Michael Asher, of Chavies, who was inside the camper.
According to police, Asher began ranting toward the Troopers, but refused to come out and speak with them. A short time later, Asher opened the camper door and pointed a gun toward them, at which time they opened fire, killing him.
There were no other injuries and an autopsy has been scheduled at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort as the incident remains under investigation.
