(AP) — A clean-up of the TugRiver,
dubbed the Matewan River Sweep, kicks of this week. The event will take place
June 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers hope to remove trash, debris and a
minimum of 1,300 tires from the TugRiver between Matewan and Buskirk, Kentucky. Hatfield McCoy Airboat Tours
will host the clean-up along with the BigSandyRiver Basin and Pride organizations and
many other volunteers and agencies. Volunteers from around the area will work
to clean up the TugRiver on both the West Virginia
and Kentucky river banks and basin.

officials are schedule to help with the event.
