Conn picks up series of wins

Embattled Stanville Social Security attorney Eric C. Conn is on a winning streak in the series of lawsuits filed against him.

Conn has been a frequent target in court  since May, when the Social Security Administration sent notices to 1,500 of his former clients, saying their disability benefits were in jeopardy due to suspicions of fraud.

Last month, however, nearly all of a federal whistleblower lawsuit against Conn was dismissed by a federal judge. Then, last week, Floyd Circuit Judge Johnny Ray Harris ordered a class-action malpractice and fraud lawsuit against Conn to be held in abeyance, saying no further proceedings would take place, until after the 1,500 exhaust their administrative remedies with the Social Security Administration.

And on Monday, a federal judge ruled against freezing Conn’s assets. In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Amul Thapar said the court has no authority to freeze Conn’s assets, until and unless there is a judgment against him.
