Deported man arraigned

A man who was indicted last year after being discovered in the United States illegally answered the charges before a judge last week. 38-year-old Humgelbert Anel Arias appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward B. Atkins in Ashland. Arias is accused of being in Pike County in February 2014, despite having been deported from the country in 2001. He is also accused of using an identification card and Social Security number not belonging to him. He eluded capture for over a year, until his arrest in Texas last month. At his arraignment last week, Arias pleaded not guilty. Judge Atkins set trial for September 14th, in U.S. District Court in Pikeville. A second person named in the indictment, Karen Lisbeth Arias, who is accused of abetting Arias, has not captured.
