Governor appoints board to oversee network

The construction of a statewide high-speed broadband network is one step closer to reality, after Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear signed an order today creating the Kentucky Communications Network Authority and its governing board to manage the network. In an interview today with EKB, Beshear said the network will be a game-changer.

The network will first be built in Eastern Kentucky, in an effort to jumpstart economic development in the region. Construction is set to begin August 31.
