Governor seeks presidential disaster declaration

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has asked President Obama to issue a disaster declaration in regards to last month’s flooding. The request covers 30 counties across Kentucky that experienced flooding between July 11th and 20th. Beshear further asked the president to declare a major disaster in Johnson, Rowan, Carter and Trimble counties, which would pave the way for individual assistance. Beshear issued his own emergency declaration July 13th. He made the appeal to President Obama yesterday.
