MSHA plans meetings to discuss dust rule

As the Mine Safety and Health Administration prepares for implementation of new rules to reduce coal miners’ exposure to dust, the agency is reaching out to the industry. A series of meetings will be held across the country to instruct industry leaders on how to comply with increased sampling requirements when the new rules go into effect this winter. The new requirements are aimed at reducing the incidence of black lung disease. The nearest meeting will be held next week, at the Perry County Public Library, in Hazard. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday.
