Police promote railroad crossing safety

Last Saturday, you may have noticed a traffic delay on Thompson Road beside the Pikeville Commons. There was no accident or emergency of any kind, just information on how to stop injuries. Pikeville Police Department and Kentucky State Police Post 9 partnered with Kentucky Operation Lifesaver to hand out pamphlets about railroad crossing safety. Executive Director Wayne Gentry says many people who frequently drive over railroad crossings can lose sight of how dangerous they can be.

Kentucky Operation Life Saver’s motto is, “See tracks, think train,” they would like to remind everyone to remain cautious while crossing a railroad track.
