Students and parents at one of Pike County’s elementary schools got together this week to pray in the new school year. At Valley Elementary, students from the elementary school and the neighboring Shelby Valley High School joined together for a prayer service Tuesday evening. The service was organized by substitute teacher Amanda Shannon and a local minister, who encouraged those in attendance to pray without ceasing for the school district’s students and staff members, as well as their families.
Amanda Shannon said she drew inspiration for the service from a similar event held Sunday at Belfry. Classes began today at schools across Pike County.
