Sheriff, bank team to return scammed woman's money

A Pike County resident who was scammed out of 16 thousand dollars had her money returned, thanks to diligent bank employees and quick work by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. Yesterday, bank employees contacted Sheriff Rodney Scott when they suspected one of their customers was being swindled.

Sheriff Scott said as soon as his deputies interviewed the victim, they were certain it was a scam. And when they began trying to track her money, they realized an elaborate setup was in place to slow down investigative efforts.

Sheriff Scott credited the his deputies for their quick work in getting the victim’s money returned … he says that’s an outcome that almost ever happens in these cases.
