During the Pike County Fiscal Court meeting, Tuesday, West Care Kentucky sought out a partnership with the Pike County Fiscal Court to pursue a Kentucky Small Cities Community Development Block Grant. The $500,000 grant will be used to renovate a facility in Elkhorn City that will serve as a residential substance use treatment program for women. The grant would also provide therapeutic child care. West Care Regional Director Stephen Wright says this project is unique and much needed.
The initiative will create 25 new, full-time, health care positions in Pike County. The construction phase, estimated at 18 months, will create between 15 to 20 jobs. The million-and-a-half-dollar project will include the renovation of the former Lookout Elementary School Building with an anticipated capacity of 60-65 women and children. The Pike County Fiscal Court agreed to partner with West Care.
