Abner Mountain repairs may take two weeks

PIKE COUNTY – Tuesday, November 10, 2015 – Drilling started yesterday to install railroad steel at the site of an embankment failure on Abner Mountain (KY 122) in Pike County. There are three locations on the mountain scheduled for repairs on this contract. Highway District 12’s Joe Stanley said the work to fix all three should last about two weeks.

During that time, motorists should expect long delays while the drilling equipment is in operation. The drill takes up so much of the roadway that it is not possible or safe to let traffic through during the time the drill is operating.

“We apologize for the temporary inconvenience,” Stanley said, “but we are trying to get these much-needed repairs finished before winter weather sets in. We want to thank people for their patience and understanding. The road will be much safer once this work is completed.”
