Wife of ex-Delegate Harry Keith White replaces him in House

(AP) — The wife of former Mingo County Delegate Harry Keith White has been appointed to replace him in the House of Delegates.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced the appointment of Phyllis White on Tuesday.

A Democrat, she worked in the Mingo County school system for 32 years and retired in December as principal of Gilbert Elementary School.

Harry Keith White resigned last week to devote more time to economic development in southern West Virginia.

He served as House majority leader from 2013 to 2015, surrendering the role after the Republican party took control of the House of Delegates.
