Former Logan County High School teacher sentenced to 10 years in prison on sexual abuse charges

A former teacher and coach at Logan High School was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday on sexual abuse charges involving students.

Ryan Waugh, 32, of Stollings, received 10 years for each count in Logan County Circuit court, which will run concurrent.

Waugh will also undergo 20 years of supervised release.

In November, Waugh pleaded guilty to two felony counts sexual abuse by a custodian or person in a position of trust.

State Police say Waugh, who was also an assistant baseball and girls basketball coach, had admitted to having sexual contact with at least two students.

According to criminal complaint, a female student told investigators she had “sexual intrusion” with Waugh at least 10 times starting in 2013. She also told investigators Waugh sent her nude photos, which Waugh also admitted to, police said.

The report also states that a second high school girl talked with the girl involved, and they exchanged stories and discovered they both had sexual relations with Waugh.
