KSP and VSP Conducts Traffic Enforcement Along State Line

The Kentucky State Police and KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division joined Virginia State Police and VSP Department of Motor Vehicle at the Kentucky and Virginia state line along US 460 on Friday, January 29, 2016.
The two state agencies combined efforts to focus on seatbelt use, speeding, reckless driving, and to target impaired and distracted driving along the bordering communities of US 460. Through education and awareness, partnership, and high-visibility traffic enforcement, officers were able to help change the high-risk behaviors of motorists that lead to crashes.

“This is a great opportunity for KSP and VSP to work together to make our highways safer” says Post 09 Lieutenant Jennifer Sandlin.  “Anytime agencies can collaborate and join efforts, it will have a positive impact on our communities.”

The traffic safety checkpoint and saturated patrols along the US 460 KY/VA border resulted a combined total of 49 citations issued.  Additionally, 23 Commercial Vehicles were inspected, resulting in 9 of those being placed out-of-service.
