Gas prices nationwide jumped significantly this week, with West Virginia prices the 3rd highest in the country, according to a AAA release.
The average price for gas nationwide increased by 6 cents this week – the largest increase since the beginning of the year.
West Virginia’s gas increase was almost double that, jumping about 12 cents, from $1.72 to $1.84.
“After months of falling gas prices, the sharp jump is unwelcomed… but not unexpected,” said AAA Charleston District Office Supervisor Crissy Gray, “Gas prices typically increase at this time of year”.
Hawaii has the most expensive gas at $2.54. Arizona and South Carolina motorists are paying the least at $1.55.
