Police shoot suspect at West Virginia campground

(AP) — Officials are investigating after a deputy sheriff shot a suspect while investigating a report of a domestic dispute at the Pinnacle Creek Campground in Wyoming County.

Sheriff Randall Aliff said a deputy arrived on the scene Friday night to find a man with a rifle. Aliff said the deputy told the man to lower the weapon, but he allegedly raised it, leading the deputy to fire.

Officials have not released the suspect's identity or condition.

Aliff said the deputy has been placed on leave while the shooting is investigated, which is standard procedure in such cases.

No other information was immediately available.
