More Fires in Logan County, West Virginia

Logan fire fighters experienced what is becoming an all too familiar scenario.  Fire erupted at an abandoned building on the city’s High Street and by the time the fire department was called, the blaze was out of hand.

A duplex, two houses, and a garage apartment were burning, two of them on one side of the street and three on the other. Only one of the structures was occupied and those inside escaped uninjured.  The garage apartment sustained water and smoke damage, but was saved the rest were a total loss.

Heat from the fires caused three vehicles parked on the street between the two infernos to catch fire as well.

The scenario was similar to a March 29th fire only a few hundred yards from Thursday’s blaze.  That fire destroyed four buildings.   Those two incidents coupled with a fire in a three story apartment building all within the last month lead investigators to suspect suspicious activity.

There has been 11 separate fires in two weeks in Logan.
