There are still no answers as to what caused a Martin County stream to turn bright yellow and green, earlier this week. Residents along Rockhouse Creek at Tomahawk reported the spill on Monday. A spokesman with the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet told EKB News that after the state received reports of the spill, the cabinet immediately sent an emergency response team to investigate. So far, there are more questions than answers.
Energy and Environment spokesman Lanny Brannock said the spill was a quarter-mile long, but did not appear to pose any danger to wildlife. He said fish and animals were seen swimming in the spill, and they did not appear distressed. He said that reports of two dogs that died after being outside near the creek were not conclusively linked to the spill and could be coincidental.
